The White House, Hastings

Set in beautiful landscaped gardens, with stunning views over Hastings' Old Town and out to sea, The White House is tastefully decorated, steeped in history and rich in period detail. It offers a wealth of creature comforts in a light, airy and spacious interior of large rooms and high ceilings.

With approx 3,000 sq ft of living space, a large walled garden, breath taking views and fantastic facilities, there are boundless ways to enjoy yourselves – from an al fresco barbeque on the upper terrace to meeting for drinks by the swimming pool.

Your party can mix cocktails at the bar, rendezvous for a movie in the cinema, congregate for dinner in the dining room, play a board game in the lounge, paddle tennis on the lower lawn or challenge one another to a bike race in the gym.

The bar’s counter top makes a great spot for a laptop, the dining table converts for table tennis, the cinema can be used as a child’s playroom, and the entire lower floor makes for an ideal adult-free teen hangout, with its own kitchenette, loos and access to the gardens.

And there are plenty of seculded spots within the house and garden too - ideal for reading a book, drinking in the view or for sunbathing, surrounded by butterflies and the lush, semi  tropical planting.

The house was once home to naval war hero Captain Davenport Jones, OBE and ADC to George V, to a past Mayor of Hastings who turned it into a small, luxury hotel in the 1970s, and to an Italian family who bought gelato to Britain in the 1930s, spawning their ice cream empire along this corner of the south coast.
